That person will more likely grant the smaller version of your

request.

 

Here's an example of the asking for more method:

 

Let's say you want your son Mario to clean up the bathroom.

 

You could ask "Mario, can you please clean up the dog poop in

our large backyard? It will only take 3 hours."

 

Mario rejects your proposal.

 

You could ask "Mario, I'd like for you to clean the bathroom.

Could you please do that for me?"

 

Mario feels guilty to turn you down a second time and accepts

your 2nd request.

 

Applying the "asking for more" method is like taking a step

backwards and actually succeeding.

What makes the "asking for more" method effective is that this

method enables your target person to maintain their sense of

freedom.

 

You gave them a sense of freedom by allowing them to reject your

offer, and they want to repay you back by granting your second

People feel guilty to turn down your second request, especially

when they can afford to take the risk!

 

In the previous example, Mario feels better that you've asked

him to clean the bathroom because it's a lot easier to clean

than the large backyard.

 

 

Mario's emotions shift from negative to positive.
